The manufacturer informs:

Micro-feeding for planktivorous marine fish, corals and other invertebrates feeding on suspended food.

Overview

A particulate suspension of microencapsulated marine proteins, lipids and carbohydrates enriched with complex and free-form amino acids and vitamins, important for the functioning of the immune system.

Appropriate food for feeding many LPSs, zooxanthellate and azooxanthellate soft corals, as well as gorgonians, anemones and other solitary or colony-living polyps, particularly at night, when they are everted to maximise their chances of catching prey.

Readily eaten by a multitude of reef fish known to feed on zooplankton and particulate food floating in the water, including clownfish, Grammatidae and Psudochromidae, Anthias, damselfish and Chromis, dwarf angelfish, cardinalfish, Nemateleotris, Gobidae, hawkfish, Labrids and many surgeonfishes.

It does not require refrigeration.

Technical Background

No matter how clear and limpid the waters flowing through tropical reefs may appear to the casual observer, closer examination reveals an abundance of zooplankton and suspended organic particulate matter that is always present (although abundance may vary depending on the time of day, and is greater at night), and is an extremely important source of food for the reef ecosystem as a whole. These micro-organisms and particulate matter are preyed upon and eaten by a multitude of fish and sessile invertebrates regularly found in our aquaria

Brightwell Aquatics Micrōvore effectively replicates zooplankton and particulate matter in a natural way for reef fish and the invertebrates that feed on suspended material such as corals and spirographs. Equally important, Micrōvore is a dietary blend of marine-derived nutrients necessary for the long-term health, growth and colouration of reef fish and the invertebrates that feed on them. In addition, it is a useful aid to encourage zooplanktivorous fish, such as Anthias, to start eating after being placed in the aquarium.

Micrōvore does not require refrigeration, however, storage in a cool place away from light will prolong the effectiveness of the vitamins. Refrigeration will maximise the product's shelf life.

Instructions and Guidelines

Shake well before use. Turn off the skimmer and other forms of mechanical filtration before adding suspended food to the aquarium and leave off for 10-15 minutes after feeding before turning on again.

Targeted feeding (corals)Targeted feeding can be carried out using a piece of rigid aerator tubing, a plastic syringe, a pipette, a dropper or similar implement; aspirate a portion of Micrōvore into the chosen implement, then slowly release its contents 5-10 cm from the organism to be fed, upstream of the current. Repeat this operation as long as deemed necessary. Rinse the feeding tool part both externally and internally before using it again for aspiration from the bottle; failure to do so will contaminate the product, accelerating its decomposition. Please read the notes below regarding the recommended maximum feeding amount. Most zooxanthellate corals extrovert their polyps at night, when the majority of corallivorous and zooplanktivorous fish are asleep and the presence of zooplankton passing through the reef water is at its most abundant. Therefore, the best time to feed Micrōvore to corals is after the lights in the aquarium have gone out (preferably at least 1-2 hours) and the room is dark. Use a low-power torch, illuminate the area immediately upstream of the coral to be fed and feed as indicated.

Administration by dispersal (mainly fish):  Add up to 2.5 ml per approximately 189 litres (50 gallons) of water in the whole aquarium system, in an area of strong water movement every other day for the first 4 weeks of use; then the dosage can be gradually increased if desired. Starting with a lower dosage and gradually increasing over time will allow the biological filtration of the aquarium to adapt to the increased nutrient input and prevent water quality deterioration.

Attention: Keep out of reach of children. Not suitable for human use.
